The Stray Dogs Sanctuary was founded in 1999 to provide kennelling for stray dogs and to rehome them if they were not claimed by their owners. Following the death of our founder in 2020, and the impact of Covid 19 we have re-oriented to function as a grant making body to other dog and animal rescue charities, as well as providing ad hoc funding of veterinary costs for the needy.

The charity is run solely by volunteers, and our charity shop in Wareham is our prime means of fundraising, although charitable collections in venues throughout Wareham, at events along with direct donations also help provide contributions.
